The Silver Trumpet Restaurant and Bar is a vibrant destination located across from the Segerstrom Center for the Arts and within walking distance from South Coast Plaza.
Land Concern developed a prominent entry experience in what was previously a non-descript utility space. The landscape had been weighed down for years with a drab strip of soggy grass and pine trees. As a material connection to the large CORTEN weathering steel sculpture in the Segerstrom Plaza we created a woven wall of weathered steel to hide the remaining service doors as a new entrance; a glowing light box by Anders Lasater Architects was created to highlight the new entrance. Additional lighting touches include the glowing patio barrier and the reed-like LEDs in the raised planter. Low water use plantings including Palo Verde, Agave and a range of succulents create a contemporary and water-wise statement. A recirculating water feature that provides audio/visual interest also functions as a divider between the restaurant entry and patio. It overflows on all sides and cascades down a tiered rill to a stone covered basin.
